When life gives you good things—
kind people,
loving friends,
loyal mates—
can you flow with gratitude?
can you fill with wellsprings of joy?
When tough times come—
friends betray you,
loved ones walk away,
people disappoint you—
can you still flow like water?
can you let life unfold?
can you let go of what doesn’t serve you well
and live in the mystery of what was, what is, and what shall be?
We fight so hard to be good,
to achieve wholeness,
to protect ourselves,
to avoid hurt and pain.
Maybe it’s time to stop fighting
time to become like water,
rippling in tide pools,
streaming down riverbeds,
floating around logjams.
I want to let my life flow.
To accept all that comes
and release all that goes.
I want to experience grace
to flow through the ups and downs of life’s riverbeds
I want to flow like water.
Holy water, teach me how to flow.

“I enjoyed this book as it brought me back in touch with familiar practices that keep me in touch with God and my true self. It also introduced new practices that are simple and I can easily work into my life as a busy mom and therapist. I’m grateful for this read and people like brian who are using their gifts to draw people closer to God and who they are truly meant to be. It’s a quick read that can be revisited time and again.”
